Glenn Close plays a rich and layered lead character in the legal thriller: Patty Hewes, a tough-as-nails lawyer whose firm persecuted corporate CEO Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) in the first season. Hurt is cast as a client of Patty Hewes. ''As we created the role, we were thinking about who might be the right fit,'' exec producer Todd Kessler told the Daily Variety. ''William was at the top of the list. Once you see this season, you'll see why it makes so much sense.'' "Damages" commences production in New York next week.
