'Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired' takes new look at old case

Just a school kid, I remember the headlines then all too well. His now 45-year-old victim, Samantha Geimer, claims he didn't get a fair trial. A Holocaust survivor, Roman is now 74, living in France and unable to return to the U.S. still without risking arrest on charges of underage sexual assault. His life has been fraught with tragedy of unimaginable proportion. Polanski's wife Sharon Tate was brutally murdered, along with four others, on August 9, 1969, by followers of Charles Manson. She was eight and a half months pregnant with Polanski's baby.The film chronicles Mr. Polanski's arrest on statutory-rape charges were drawn up after a complaint filed by the mother of a 13-year-old Mr. Polanski had sexual relations with at a party. The mother of the girl was at this party as well.HBO's documentary explores the lesser-known details of his legal battles and court dramas. Filmmaker Marina Zenovich presents interesting glimpses of Mr. Polanski then and now. .
