NBC series 'Crusoe' inks Sam Neill, Sean Bean and Joss Ackland

NBC has turned up the heat in their latest series for fall, "Crusoe."  Three solid actors have joined the new series based on the classic Daniel Defoe tale.

Joining are Sam Neill (The Tudors), Sean Bean (The Island) and Joss Ackland (Hogfather). "Crusoe" will debut on NBC this fall, on Fridays at 8p.

The project will stay true to the adventures of the handsome and handy castaway Crusoe (Philip Winchester) and his companion Friday as they are stranded on a desert island.

There will be flashbacks of Crusoe's life before he journeyed on his ill-fated voyage.

Variety reports that some flashbacks are Crusoe's sad childhood with widower father. James (Bean), his life's love, Susannah (Anna Walton), and business mentor, Jeremiah Blackthorn (Neill).

"Crusoe" will be filmed in the U.K., South Africa and the Seychelles.
