Paula Abdul blames Simon for confusion?

Was Paula the victim of a serial prankster?

That is what the new spin is from the American Idol’s camp. as Paula Abdul blamed a sudden change in the show's format for last night’s confusion.

Now Extra is reporting that sometimes Simon Cowell plays pranks on Abdul.

In a recent “Extra” interview, Cowell admitted, “I whisper one or two things [in Paula’s ear] throughout the show if I’m bored.”

Additionally. the talented Idol castoff,  Michael Johns told Cowell's gal Terri Seymour that at last weekend’s White House Correspondents Dinner a political powerhouse admitted to being a big fan.

Johns said, “Condoleeza Rice…came over and said, ‘I’m one of your biggest fans. Is it okay to get a photo together?’”

As for who Johns thinks will be the next American Idol, he responded, “Week to week it changes. One week you’re in the bottom three. Next week you’re getting praise so it’s anybody’s game.”
