People keep criticising the show but millions vote, so they are watching regardless of what the media tells you about numbers dropping. It's still a hit show!
I really wish the judges (except for their brief input on the actual show), producers, designers, guests, etc, etc, would quit offering their 'opinions' and critiques until after the competition is over. It's so unprofessional and aggravating to many fans.
Excuse me - that's part of the whole idea of this show!!!!
Are the producers and judges trying to sway the peoples votes. Nothing lik bashing Jason when he's down . Hey Nigel did you forget that Jason was sick during this past Tuesdays show. OOp Jason was to humble to say anything about that. Jason is doing great and his fans have let the public know. First Ryan asking how to vote for Jason?? What was that about, Then Simon saying don't vote for him know Nigel say he is the weekest idol.
Jason Castro is the new Sanjaya with a little bit of Tiny Tim thrown in. He needs to go home now.
Jason has no personality - he'd never make it!
Oh contrare...
Jason does have personality. He's quirky (not a bad thing), humble, genuine and adorable. Besides that, when he sings, people can connect with him. All in all, not bad qualities to have for an AI contestant. Let's be real, he gives one crappy performance and people are ready to jump all over him. The fickleness of Americans is really annoying.
This TIny Tim comparison is really quite stupid. What? The guy is keen and brave enough to bring out a ukelele one week (and by the way, it SOOOOOO worked for him) and now he's compared to Tiny Tim?? It's an amateur comparison-quite a stretch given that is the only thing the two have in common. I also find the irony that Jason is stereotyped as stupid when he is smart enough to think out of the box, sing songs like 'Hallelejuha' and Ole's version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' with said ukelele and make them work. That dear Idol bloggers is anything but stupid.
Nigel and AI should be ashamed of themselves. Same old games are being played with the contestants as in the past. Shame on all of you!
I've never been so into AI not until season 7. And the reason behind my obsession with it is Jason Castro! He's the one drawing a lot of viewers this season. Jason Castro is the best thing in AI.
I could write several paragraphs regarding the positiveness of Idol, however, my concern is the show's undoing.
There is an old saying that goes something like this, 'What works for you may begin working against you' ( or something to that effect). One of the things that orginally worked well for Idol, in my opinion, has been the interplay between the judges and, especially, the banter between Simon and Ryan.
Paula was the 'sweet judge' who never have anything but good things to say covering the contestants with so much honey they must had felt the were already stars. I am thankful for having DVR with its fast forward feature so I no longer have to listen to her or the halftime interviews between uninformed but beautiful 'sports reporters'. Also, she takes too much of the time just trying to put a sentence together. While I have nothing personal against her, she adds little if anything to the show.
Randy has become the one who appears to be the most balanced judge who, while telling them their performance did nothing for him, does point out one or two positive things they did.
Simon, the most hated by many fans, is actually my favorite because I surmise that the music business is a very difficult, criticism filled business. If they cannot handle his informed critiques they probably should find work where they are always patted on the back. Surely Simon could deliver his critques in a more pleasing manner, however, this is a business and he gets right downt to business, is clearly detailed as to what he disliked / liked, and the contestants should be grateful to him for his knowledgeable critiques.
The banter, personal jokes, and innuendos usually iniatiated by Ryan to and about Simon have become tiring, boring, and predictable. To be true this is 'Show Business'. I would prefer a little more business and a little less show between the judges.
The interplay between the judges and between Ryan and Simon worked well at first. Now, however, it has become too much 'show' and not enough of the 'business'. Soon the producers may find themselves hobbling!
