American Idol took another bizarre detour, as the predicted victim tonight dd not come to pass, instead the Irish girl with the big voice was axed.
The songs of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber were the undoing this week for finalist Carly Smithson, who was booted from the show tonight.
The show also included a cameo appearance from President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, thanking viewers for their donations during the "Idol Gives Back" live episode.
The two Davids are safe.
Meanwhile, Jason Castro gets another week; he should have been voted off.
Simon Cowell expresses my feelings exactly, “Jason, you weren’t very good, but you were charming.”
After a Broadway video segment with Tamyra Gray and Clay Aiken, Leona Lewis performed “Bleeding Love.”
Ryan Seacrest called Syesha Mercado and Brooke White to center stage.
Seacrest says Brooke White is safe and Syesha Mercado is in the bottom two.
Syesha Mercado turned in one of the best performances last night, America, what the heck are you thinking here?
We find out Carly is leaving.
“I am shocked,” judge Randy Jackson said after the results were announced. “It must be a bit of a popularity week in the vote.”
Next week, the Idols will sing songs of Neil Diamond.
