The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway thinks American Idol David Cook is the real deal himself.
Broadway’s real-life Phantom of the Opera was near New York’s Majestic Theater where he critiqued David Cook’s American Idol performance to Extra.
Howard McGillin has set a record by playing the Phantom over 2,000 times, told “Extra” that he was impressed with Cook’s rendition of “Music of the Night” on last night’s show.

He commented, “He nailed it…It’s such a difficult song to sing…He sings with such purity and such a beautiful sound, but he did great.” As a fan of American Idol, McGillin admitted, “I love it [but] I don’t get to watch it much.”
The Real Phantom of the Opera’s American Idol Critique will air tonight on “Extra”
