People need to understand that Bill hates religion and thinks it is the cause of society's ills so of course he would criticize the Pope with no remorse. I like most of his views but he is missing a religious sensitivity chip.
Why are you all upset with the truth, why can't we look at the things our leaders have done and make your on judgement on? Now if this had been somebody else like a blackman that Bill Maher was talking bout he would get crucified in the worst way. I wish you can understand that the sex scandal that went on in the catholic world nobody really push the issue and this is our young people being abuse and you all want to cover your eyes as if it didn't happen and that is sick as you know what. So what Bill Maher said about the pope is no way close to what the sex scandal did, but he is a moron, etc, etc, please he has more balls than any of you and the govenment because he spoke up about sick, perverted, old guys getting their way and getting away with it. SO BE MAD BECAUSE MAYBE YOU ALL ARE THE SAME SICK, PERVERTED, M.F'S THAT NEED TO BE SHOT!!!!

Contrary to what many of you may think Bill is highly educated. Who he dates or what he smokes has nothing to do with his comments, nor does his general appearance matter. I think he looks pretty good for being 52 years old. He resides in America and lucky for him this land allows him to say whatever he wants about whatever he wants. He didnt yell 'fire' in a crowded theater, he gave his opinion about something that bothers him. He gets paid millions of dollars to do that, not on network TV on HBO. HBO has a show called Cathouse about legalized prostitution what else do you expect??
It's important to remember that this 'Pope' is the CEO of a multi-billion dollar worldwide enterprise, whos' memebers routinely engage in child abuse and pedophilia. Further, before he was Top Dauwg at The Vatican, he wrote a memo instructing US bishops to keep acts of pedophilia secret for at least 7 years, so the Church could claim exemption under the statute of limitations. **Yeah, real pious guy!** ***

Truth sometimes hurts! It comes down to one's right to disagree and express his or her thoughts. All Religions seperate and all certainly have their share of idiot, intollerant followers and of course leaders. The Catholic church has been at the top of the heap for a very long time. Truly spiritual, free thinking people question all religions practices and behaviors. Nearly all the comments posted here are filled with hatred, intollerence, and of course, insecurity. The people who post such comments are filled with both hatred, intollerence, guilt, and shame. Go ahead! Post your response calling me an idiot now! Bill is right! The Catholic church has received the same kind of exemption from it's finatical beleivers as the Muslim religion has from it's finatics. Where is the outrage from you people when it comes to sick priests and those who help to cover up and excuse all the criminal behaviors going back decades. I wish the outrage you express for Bill Maher's comments and your determination to see him fired was equaled by the outrage of the criminal, shameful behaviors of our president. Bill Maher made offensive comments, Our President and his band of criminal sidekicks have divided a nation, killed americans and non americans, sold us out, and wrapped themselves in the flag and utilized religion to draw on your vulnerabilities to get it all done. Mr. Maher obviously harbors deep hate and resentment towards those who made him go to confession on Saturday and church on Sunday. He probbaly had to go to CCD class on Wednesday night. All of that took away from his 'Playboy' time. His Catholic parents probably found his Playboy stash under his matress and burned them. this would explain his deep bigotry towards Catholics. I don't know why he hates Muslims and Jews though.

Bill maher can give a rats ass about the sexual abuse victims along with you as well. Its all just an excuse to hate the catholic church. What has Bill Maher done for these victims? Nothing. It's funny how daring to speak up against religion gets so many people going. Religion is the greatest cause of hatred and violence in all of history. It breeds intolerance and preaches ignorance and disrespect. I don't know if Maher was trying to say this or not, but he sure did hit the proverbial nail on the head about bigotry didn't he? Just listen to half of you ranting about how sick and wrong non-religious people are! About how non-religious people 'will pay' if they're wrong about religion when they die. (last I looked, the bible said you'd be forgiven, so not believing is okay as long as you've been nice, right?) Bill Maher is very intolerant of peoples religious beliefs not the other way around. I'm not sure what fans of his don't see. He is a coward plain and simple. Most religious people I know are very tolerant of others but unfortunately i just don't see most secular liberals being tolerant of religious people. They persecute them even when they are silent. Pope John Paul II preached nothing but love and you secular liberals still hated him. Its a no win situation. It's all just bigotry and unfortunately the biggest bigot here is Bill Maher. I don't hear the pope putting anyone down.

everyone is going on about how bigoted mr maher is but you seem to have forgotten about the fact that *you* are bigoted against homosexuals. the manifesto for the scottish christian(read 'catholic') party for last years election was mainly comprised of various bills to take away the rights of homosexuals. the leaflets given out contained such sickening, bigoted things as 'any child who declares him or herself to be homosexual will be punished severely' or something similar to that. it sickens me to see that every time a bill (you may call It an amendment in the USA, i dont know) is passed to further gay rights, there is an archbishop or some other clergyman (probably a peadophile). yeling angrily about these 'godless heathens' who some think should be burned at the stake and how they are 'destroying the country from within'. well, i know religion is slow, BUT IT'S THE 21ST CENTURY, NOT MEDEVIL BRITAIN!
