Myers, who will soon be back on the big screen as the "Love Guru," was inked by show producer Mark Burnett to host the 2008 MTV Movie Awards.
The seventeenth annual show premieres live on MTV, Sunday June 1st from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, CA.
This is Myers’ second time hosting the alternative awards show.
Unlike the Oscars, the MTV Awards categories are more imaginative and eclectic - such as “Best Kiss,” “Best Villain,” and “Best Comedic Performance.”
"I've spent the last year and a half of my life having the most fun ever working on ‘The Love Guru,’ and now I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with Judy McGrath, Van Toffler and Mark Burnett,” said Mike Myers.
“Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom’s mini van; we do beer runs in Will Smith's four-story motorhome."
“Mike Myers blew us away last time he hosted the MTV Movie Awards with his lord of the dance and over the top musical productions,” said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks Music, Logo and Films Group.
“He keeps creating iconic film characters that have been etched in the minds of MTV's audiences forever. 'The Love Guru’ is sure to spur yet another cultural movement, so we're elated to have Mike back as our host.”
The star-studded event is MTV’s own take on the typical awards shows celebrating the year’s best in movies, stand-out musical performances and more.
Hailed for film parodies, controversial kisses and outrageous acceptance speeches - the MTV Movie Awards has produced some clever and unforgettable moments of the years.
Mike Myers “The Love Guru” will be in theaters June 20, the actor was nominated for an Emmy for "Best Performance in a Comedy or Variety Show" and won an Emmy for "Best Writing for Comedy or Variety Show."
Myers successfully brought his popular SNL character, Wayne Campbell, to the big screen in 1992 with "Wayne's World," followed a year later with "Wayne's World 2". On the heels of the "Wayne's World" empire, and the "Austin Powers" and "Shrek" franchises, Myers appeared in a range of films including "54," for which he earned critical acclaim.
Nominees for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards will be announced in May.
