Jay Leno has ignited the gay community, outraged over his "joke" segment with guest Ryan Phillippe as he urged the "Stop-Loss" star to give a "gay look" to the camera.
On Thursday, March 20, 2008, Leno welcomed Phillippe as a guest. Early in his career, Ryan played a gay character on the daily soap, "One Life to Live."
During the interview, Leno hounded Phillippe, telling him to look into the camera, pretend it was his "gay lover…Billy Bob," who "has just ridden in shirtless from Wyoming" (still milking the Brokeback jokes), and give it his "gayest look.
Phillippe refused.
This week reactions have led to the creation of mygayestlook.com. On it, members and supporters of the gay community have been submitting photos of themselves flipping Leno off.
The site includes pictures from author Armistead Maupin and columnist and "Real Time" reporter, Dan Savage.
