The most recent American Idol castoff, Amanda Overmyer, goes one-on-one with “Extra’s” Terri Seymour speaking candidly about staying true to herself and her plans for the future.
When asked if she was surprised by Wednesday’s result show, Overmyer responds, “There was a little bit of an element of surprise, but I knew I was going to be in the bottom half, so it was just a matter of which week I was going to go.”
As for not being popular enough with viewers, Overmyer believes, “I really didn’t put forth much effort to change anything or mold into what I needed to do to continue on with the show, which is exactly what I wanted to do.”
Overmyer has no regrets saying, “The whole objective was to come out and put my sound on TV and see if people liked it. So I accomplished what I wanted to do.”
Overmyer reveals the best part of her American Idol experience, she comments, “I had completely given up doing music. I put it away. I was done with it. Even as a hobby. I just didn’t have time for it. This whole experience reminded me how much fun I have doing it. It was nice to get on stage again.”
As for what the future holds, the former nurse from Indiana plans to remain in Hollywood, she says, “I’ll give it a little bit of time. See how much momentum I’ve created and see if I can do a career change and make this what I do now…If it ends up being my 15 minutes of fame, I’ll gracefully bow out and go home and do what I was doing. I’m not going to chase that unicorn forever. Give it six months or so and see.”
