David Letterman demanded Spitzer's resignation

He should have stepped down yesterday," Letterman said during a lengthy rant that will air on Tuesday's show."Get out of the office," Letterman added. "Who is running the state, for the love of God."The New York Daily News noted that Letterman made hay out of "Client 9's" woes: "Client 9 will soon be looking for wife number 2" and that the governor "was supporting New York's No. 1 industry."Like CNN TV personality Lou Dobbs, Letterman railed against Spitzer during his show."How long does that need to last, by the way?" Letterman said. "I mean, wouldn't you - if you were his wife, wouldn't you be on the first train out of here. Just ‘adios,' get the kids, take a hike.""...how does that benefit us residents of the Empire State, you know what I'm saying," Letterman said. "I mean, should that really be his decision?"It was the despised governor's hypocrisy that irked Letterman the most."You know the extreme irony of this, he used to be the Attorney General and when he ran for governor, he ran on the platform, ‘You break the law, we will kill you,'" Letterman said.
