'The View's' Whoopi - emotional Swayze thanks

04/24/2007 - Whoopi Goldberg - © Janet Mayer / Photorazzi"When I won my Academy Award, the only person I really thanked was Patrick," Goldberg recalled Thursday on ABC daytime talk show "The View."Goldberg played a psychic in the 1990 film which earned her a best supporting actress trophy.Her character, Oda Mae helps the recently deceased Sam Wheat (Swayze) communicate with his fiancee (Demi Moore) to find his real killers and protect her.According to Goldberg, Swayze told director Jerry Zucker, "I'm not making this movie unless you put Whoopi Goldberg in there."In a statement released yesterday, Swayze's physician Dr. George Fisher said he was "optimistic" about the "Dirty Dancing" actor's prognosis for battling the disease: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far."Goldberg spoke out to her friend on "The View.""We want you to feel better — we'll talk soon, I hope," she said.
