Last night on "Real Time with Bill Maher" - Bill welcomed conservative LA Times writer Jonah Goldberg, author Matthew Dowd, and sports journalist Bob Costas with conservative reporter Amy Holmes (via satellite). Author and affable crusty conservative P.J. O'Rourke joined the panel as a visiting reporter.
Bill's show covered the usual points: Bush lying about the war (Both Goldberg and Dowd fought Maher on the finer points of the corruption charges leveled at Bush).
Then the show detoured into a pet topic of Maher's: The poisoning of Americans by their own diets and prescribed drug habits to rectify the ills of what they ingest.
Maher has fervently promoted the idea that Big Pharma is complicit with Big Agra and knows fully the dangers of all of us consuming cheap high-fructose corn syrup and and an unhealthy animal- based diet.
Vegan and PETA member Maher has long promoted the knowledge that the big food corporations "enhance" these products with growth hormones and steroids. This set off the panel in the Real Time twist of the night:
Maher's rant on drugs for this symptom, drugs for that, and even more drugs to counteract the side effects of the first veered off-topic for the sitting panelists.
