"Grey's Anatomy" star Eric Dane has fought the deadly skin cancer Melanoma since he was diagnosed last month.
Dane became concerned after noticing an odd scaly patch of skin above his lips and sought medical treatment.
He tells OK magazine, "I went to my dermatologist. He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage."
Doctors removed the growth by freezing it off with liquid nitrogen.
Dane shared it was a traumatic procedure. "My skin is very sensitive and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through. I didn't eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight."
Despite dropping over 10 pounds during his ordeal, the actor claims he is in good health.

I want to clear something up. He did NOT have melanoma. Nor did he have a pre-melanoma or dysplastic nevus that might progress to melanoma. He had a sun damaged lesion that is common and highly treatable. The lesion he had could not in 100 million years become a melanoma unless some weird coincendence occured. It was a premalignant lesion but the malignancy it predisposes one to is not melanoma, but rather a highly curable form of skin cancer called a squamous cell carcinoma. Melanoma does not respond to liquid nitrogen therapy. It's an important distinction- had he had melanoma on his lip he would have had reconstructive surgery, lymph node dissection possibly and much more aggressive treatment. This was a situation where the tabloids blew things out of proportion and people should know that true melanoma are far more serious and require intensive treatment.
