Kiefer Sutherland's '24' fan ban

Kiefer Sutherland is refusing to sign autographs after fans posted photographs of his DUI (driving under the influence) arrest on the internet.
The '24' star was furious when fans started snapping away at him when he was stopped by police for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood on September 25.
Photographs of the actor looking "tired and emotional" quickly appeared on several websites following his arrest and Sutherland has now decided to snub fans in the future.
Autograph collector Michael Wehrmann told the New York Post newspaper: "He was one of the best. He would always stand and sign for a half hour, but since his arrest, he's been telling collectors, 'I don't do that anymore. You guys screwed me.' "
Last month, Sutherland pleaded guilty to DUI and agreed to serve 30 days for his DUI conviction and 18 days for violating his probation following a separate drink-driving arrest in 2004.
In a statement, the father-of-two said: "I'm very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I'm deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on '24' and at 20th Century Fox."
Kiefer must surrender himself to a county jail on December 21 to start serving his 18-day sentence.
He will have until July 1 next year to serve the remaining 30 days, so it will not interfere with filming on his Emmy award-winning TV show '24' - in which he plays Counter Terrorist Unit Agent Jack Bauer.

But why hurt the opportunity for the rest of his fans just because of a couple of idiots.
When I read the beginning of this article i was shocked, i thought it was fabricated, that is so unlike Kiefer, he always stops to sign and has to be dragged away by his friends/coworkers, but then i kept reading and it might actually make sense, coz he's refusing to sign for collectors (which are the ones who sold the pictures- assuming this is true, i haven't seen any of these pics online or heard anything about it), these are people who know where he is and wait for him with a bunch of pictures and posters and stuff for him to sign and for them to sell. i seriously doubt that he's refusing to sign for fans who are just truly thrilled to see him.
I don`t think so. Come on. This is ridiculous. Kiefer blaming his fans because his DUI? Really anybody think this is true? BLAH!!!!!!!!! A fight with any jerk it`s not his attitude with ALL his fans.
I have seen a few pictures of Kiefer posing with fans since his arrest. I have also read a few accounts from fans raving about how he graciously signed for them. I think this story (if it is true at all) is referring to professional autograph collectors, not true fans.
The only source quoted in the article, Michael Wehrmann, is a professional collector who pulls down a six figure income and has a staff of assistants to help him collector autographs from the world's most famous. Google 'Michael Wehrmann' to read all about him.
Could it be that Mr. Wehrman is upset that Kiefer will no longer sign for HIM. Or maybe he is trying to raise the value of his own Kiefer collection by spreading rumors of an autograph ban.
Frankly, I'm surprised that Kiefer (or any other celebrity) would knowingly sign for professionals like Mr. Wehrman who want nothing but to exploit their generosity.
wow! I wish i coulg have been one of the lucky one's to have a sighned autograph of kiefer!! I really hope he still well consider sighning them. If i ever meet him, i would die! I t is my dream to be on 24, and someday i well! Good luck kiefer and hang in there! I'M ON YOUR SIDE!!!!
This story is totally bogus. Kiefer is still signing for fans but has cut off the professionals who make living off his name.
I am the author of an article for 'The Georgetowner' a Washington DC newspaper about the filming of '24' in their area of the city. I spoke with several people for whom he had signed autographs the night before.
Whereas he could have vanished from the small 'in-town suburb' of Georgetown into the anonymous depths of DC, mingled with the rich and famous, or hidden in his hotel, or for that matter, since he loves junk food, gone through the McDonald's drive-thru... He didn't. He spent his Friday evening in a small restaurant called Cafe Milano in the middle of the town at a table in the middle of the room, not even a booth, enjoying himself with the locals, asking for no special treatment, taking photos and signing autographs.
Check your sources and retract your headline. This has nothing to do with the fans with whom Kiefer shares a recriprocal appreciation, especially now, or did you notice the People's Choice Award nomination???
Kiefer,
We all make mistakes. Your popularity just magnifies anything regarding your career. I think your statement was genuine regarding the DUI. Have fun, but hire a driver! 24 is right on! Publicity kills only the ignorant. If I were to get a DUI, no one would hear about me! If I could afford a driver, I'be be having a whole lot more fun!
Keep it safe! You and your father are the best!
Regards!
Why punish all the fans because of the idoits who posted the pics. Its not fair to the loyal fans to stop signing autographs. Also they won't have screwed you if you wheren't drinking. There will always be a few rotten applies out of the bunch.
Kiefer,
You are one of the best actors out there. Please don't give in to what these morons posted on the web. And don't give up hope. It'll all end sooner or later. You rock, Kiefer! I love your name. I love you. Be careful and remember this: If Jack Bauer was the president of the US, he'd protect the secret service. I don't think that you, Kiefer Sutherland, should be ANY different. I agree with lindsay. If I met you, I would TOTALLY die!!! You're the best, Kiefer. Stay safe on the road, OK? I don't want you to die.
Good luck, Kiefer.

make a stand, but go easy on the drink and drive. Your fans should be loyal, loyal to the end not backstabbing. You go!
