Reality sucks: Hotel Rwanda cancels Hilton visit

Paris Hilton's trip to Rwanda has been postponed.

The hotel heiress - who was planning a five-day trip to the poverty-stricken African country in November - was told by the Playing for Good Foundation, the celebrity charity organisation sponsoring the visit, that the tour has been "regrettably rescheduled".

The charity said in a statement: "Due to the restructuring of the Playing for Good Foundation, the philanthropic trip to Rwanda that the foundation had previously planned with Paris Hilton has been postponed.

"Paris has been a loyal and gracious supporter of Playing for Good but the foundation has to regrettably reschedule this trip. We would like to thank Ms. Hilton for her generosity and her continued support of this initiative and are looking forward to rescheduling the trip with her at a later time."

Earlier this month, it was revealed Paris' Rwanda trip was being turned into a reality show.

The programme, called 'The Philanthropist', was set to feature various celebrities undertaking charitable endeavours.

Despite claims Paris was using the trip as a publicity stunt, the 26-year-old 'Simple Life' star defended herself, claiming her reality shows allow fans to see how she lives.

She said: "It shows people what everyday life is like for me."

Paris previously admitted she was nervous about the trip, but was determined to highlight the plight of the war-ravaged country.

She said: "I'm really scared, yeah. There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help. I know there's a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues."
