Emma Watson has been named Best Movie Actress at the first ever UK Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

The 17-year-old star was honoured for her role as Hermione Granger in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' in a ceremony at London's ExCel arena on Saturday (20.10.07).

Emma fought off stiff competition from Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightley and Dakota Fanning to win the accolade.

The young actress wore a stunning gold-sequinned top and Diesel jeans as she collected her statuette, after more than three million young viewers of the children's TV channel Nickelodeon cast their votes online.

She said: "This is so cool. I'm so thrilled."

Johnny Depp was named Best Movie Actor for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'.

However, 'Pirates...' was beaten to the title of Best Movie by 'The Simpsons Movie', while 'The Simpsons' TV show was named Best Cartoon.

Avril Lavigne, 23, was named Best Female Singer ahead of Gwen Stefani and Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole.

British boy band McFly, who hosted the event, were named Best Band.

In the biggest shock of the night, 21-year-old US star Drake Bell beat Justin Timberlake to be named Best Male Singer.
