Tom Hanks to make Kennedy assassination miniseries

Sep 20, 2007, 0:45 GMT

Los Angeles - Tom Hanks is to produce a 10-part miniseries for HBO that debunks the various conspiracy theories surrounding the 1963 assassination of President John F Kennedy, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

The series, to be based on Vincent Bugliosi's bestseller, Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F Kennedy, will be co-produced by TV star Bill Paxton, who as a child attended a rally with Kennedy just before the assassination.

In his New York Times best-seller, Bugliosi, who prosecuted Charles Manson and co-wrote Helter Skelter, disproves many conspiracy theories, such as those that there were multiple gunmen, and contends that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole party behind the 1963 Kennedy assassination.

'Seventy-five per cent of the American public believes in the falsehood that there was a conspiracy in the assassination of President Kennedy, and only 19 per cent accept the findings of the Warren Commission that Oswald acted alone,' Bugliosi said.

He said he was hopeful that the new project would help 'reverse those numbers and finally bring the truth to the American public.'

It saddens me to know that Mr. Hanks has been duped into doing an 'oswald did it' series. I'm sure he doesn;t need the money
