Kramer on the old Seinfeld tv show had it right when he confronted this woman on the street in one episode and told her to 'Give it up. You're not funny.' She wasn't then, still isn't.

We Christians out there think she is a joke anyway... her comment about Jesus just solidified our opinion. I can't even be upset because this is what we have always been up against! What good practice, huh?! I do agree with the comment about her saying 'Allah' instead of 'Jesus'. So on target...

I would rather she be honest than get up there and try to claim Jesus just as many rappers do when they win awards for their filthy music. She did go to far with the insult but at least she doesn't include Jesus as being a part of her reason for winning that award. Maybe they just felt bad for her...

One more Hollywood flake who wouldn't dare make fun of the religion which would answer such an insult with a death warrent against her.

So eay to kick 'Jesus', who she knows will only turn the other cheek, and meanwhile never mention the cult leader -who took a 9 year old girl to bed, -who approved of assassinating women poets that made fun of him, and whose 'faith' says to throw homosexuals off buildings to their death, and then turn the world into a global theocratic gulag.

Theo Van Gogh would laugh at Kathy Griffin's cowardice.

Except he has been permanently silenced, -murdered on the streets of his hometown, Amsterdam, for mocking that 'prophet' whom she cowers from even mentioning.

Spit on Jesus but hide from the 7th century warlord.

I love Kathy Griffin and her comedy, however, I am not happy about her comment on what Jesus can do. In one sentence, she offended millions of Christians. I know she ad-libs a lot, and I will continue to support her as long as this kind of thing doesn't happen again. If it does, I will have to rethink attending her future concerts. I'm not a prude. Offending Oprah is one thing, the Lord is another!

Lighten up and, if you want to pray, get on your knees and thank your Lord that we still have a country you can tell a joke like this in. Do you really want us to live in fear like some extremists would have us do?

Honestly, why WOULD she say something about Allah? She isn't Muslim! That's hardly cowardly. Christian comedians make jokes about Christianity, Catholic comedians make jokes about growing up Catholic, and Jewish comedians make jokes about being Jewish. I think if the joke had been about Judaism, most of the people who were offended would have not problem with it.

He cant get offended, but if he was, he will take care of it himself. Plus with this kinda reaction you deserve to be laughed at, the great Jesus defenders, the great Templars! I think she was foolish to have uttered such statements publicly. In an age of tolerance, she outrightly insulted billions of people but Christains wont take offence, becuase that's what the religion preaches - love.

However, when next she intends to be so foolish; she should try using the prophet Muhammed or Allah in place of Jesus. I bet she knows she wont walk her streets again.

I don't know Pat. Seems like a lot of christians are having trouble letting this slide. I just read that 'E!' will be censoring her comment when the show is finally aired.
I think we are far from achieving the freedoms this country promises if we can't even insult Jesus. Publicly insulting Muhammed is a long way off. If we are not careful this 'christian' nation will become as oppressive as the nation of islam.

Again, why would she say anything about Allah or Islam? She was not raised as a Muslim, she was raised Catholic so that's what she jokes about. She's a Catholic making a dig at the real losers who thank Jesus or God for screwing over other people so that they can win.

I'm all for people thanking for the support of the divine, but some speeches border on the ridiculous for implying that Jesus hated everyone else that didn't win.

I even saw a blip on CNN trying to compare this to Imus comments...

Folks! She's a comedian! Lighten up! She wasn't so much aiming her comments at Jesus as she was at the idiots on these award shows who thank Jesus for winning whatever it is they've won. Like Jesus CHOSE that person to win. That so many news outlets are refusing to quote her 'suck it, Jesus,' comment and the Emmy's will not air that comment sadly says a lot about how our culture has become so over-sensitive about anything that comes remotely close to insulting anyone or anything. When I read what she said, I thought it was funny. She had the guts to say in front of a camera what most people say in their living room every time they see an award winner or an athlete proclaim their thanks to whatever god they believe in. How ridiculous our culture has become. Does EVERYBODY have to feel insulted about something all the time?

I think Andrew Sullivan hit the nail on the head when discussing that blowhard from the Catholic League. Basically, the reactions of nut-case jihadists has become our baseline now for blasphemy. If you substitute Mohammed for Jesus and they'll kill you for the joke, you've crossed the line.

I concur with the other comments that stated 'why are religions somehow exempt from jokes?'

Sam Harris makes an excellent case for this in his book 'Letter to a Christian Nation'. Why aren't people upset when we make jokes about Zeus or Hercules?

Lastly, Kathy Griffin was making fun of every spoiled athlete/entertainer who, through some fluke of genetics has the ability to sing or catch a ball and then thanks Jesus. Don't you think Jesus is more concerned with us killing each other, poverty, global warming, injustice, etc. that he'd be a little too busy to bestow said gift upon the entertainer?

Lighten up. For the time being, this is a free country.

I think the most humorous thing about all of this is watching the Christians freak out over it. What's the matter? Can't deal with the fact that you're not 'dominant' over all of us anymore? Can't persecute us and kill us anymore for not believing in YOUR god? Give it a rest and grow up! First, she was joking. Second, in this country we have something called 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of religion'. How dare anyone try to censor her, or even think of censoring her, for using both of those constitutional rights. Everybody getting up in arms about this is literally being a religious zealot. Whiney little dark ages babies. Open your eyes and realize what century we live in.

Kathy Has Gone Too far, Thanks To HypocrisySep 16th, 2007 - 21:22:23

When Mel Gibson said stupid things, everyone ganged up on him. When Michael Richards and Imus said stupid things everyone ganged up on them. When a European newspaper printed offensive cartoons making fun of the Prophet Muhammad, most of us were very disgusted. When Kathy Griffin tells the Christians' son of God to suck it, people come to her defense as if there is any humor in offending other people's religious figures. Double standard.

Don't you just love so called 'Christians' who will believe in the Bible without doing any research on what they even believe in?! Just because you are brought up in a 'Christian' home or born in America does not make you a 'Christian' Know what you believe in....Do some research on the bible and know why you follow the teaching in it.

Well, did you know the Bible had over 30 other books that were removed just because King James did not want to put them in his version even though the people at the time thought those books were more important. (Research) Do some while you set here on your computer. And Never believe the first thing you are told. By me, This Government, The President or anyone else.

You have a mind, Use it. Oh, and I do believe in God, Just not everything that men have written down in the Bible. I spent 12 years in a Christian Church and 2 years in Mexico feeding the homeless and another 9 years in a Christian band preaching and teaching all over. some pointsSep 17th, 2007 - 00:21:07

Gibson didn't make a joke, hence why no one defended him. a *lot* of people defending Imus. Now a *lot* are defending Griffin. Christians are a depressing lot. Everything bad in the world is our fault. Everything good is God's fault. How come we can't take any credit for doing something well? If God gave humans free will, He gave them the free will to *do well*. She *chose* to use whatever talents she had and directly due to her *free will*, she received that award. She should thank herself and anyone who gave her direct help (through their own free will) to get that award. Christians (Catholics especially) are big hypocrites. Apparently, you can't blame God for not stopping something bad, because 'God doesn't work that way.' Or you can't blame God for not answering some prayer (no matter how badly you wanted it), because 'He doesn't work that way.' But anytime something good happens, credit is immediately given to Him.

Have a little bit of self-confidence. Maybe you got where you are today based on your free will and not the will of some being who you have absolutely no proof of their existence *except* that some *human* told you so.

She's obviously doing relatively well because she *won an award*. if your God is all knowing, why didn't He stop such a 'heathen' from doing so well in the first place and give the award to you??

People need to calm down. Be more tolerant. Not everyone has the same beliefs as you. In this country, no one gave you the right to not be offended. Last time I checked, offensive content wasn't illegal.

I question is, why say Jesus...why not Mohammed, Allah, Buddha, or Krishna?

It is her right to believe or not, as for me, I believe and am thankful each day. I will keep her in my prayers and I will anyone who does not believe. She has not been and will not be one of my favorates. We all need to remember, we will have to answer for the things we say and do during our live. I am not judging her, God is.
