I think it is deplorable that our own country will not back Duane Chapman after all he has done for us as a nation. Him and his family have put their lives on the line to capture crimanals that have put our families at risk. The Chapmans are exemplory people who deserve our thanks, and love for the brave acts they have done, and how are they being thanked? By our own country turning their backs on them. I for one, am ashamed of our govenment for allowing this to go on for so long.
What kind of BS is this....Our government is just mad because they are not the hero and they cannot get any taxes off of this. I really wish our government could live on the otherside just one time and let somebody like Luster hurt their family or something. Maybe then they could appreciate the job and the risk that Duane and his family took. They do it because it is in The Dog's heart to help people and sometimes tough love is the way to go. I look up to him and the family for taking such a risk to give his counrty what he thought to be protection. Thank you Dog and all the family.. Screw anyone that thinks otherwise..
This is outrageous. What case is there to work on, the Mexican Gov threw out all charges so hense there is no case. Our govn't needs to open their eyes alot more and see what's going on. This is a free country and our govn't is suppost to protect our citizens, after all we do pay their wages don't we. Our tax dollars are being spent without our consent and now look, good people like the Chapman's are being treated like dogs.
It is not right, not right at all.
Another example of the out of control legal system and the total lack of common sense pervasive in it. Dog is a major success story in changing his life for the better and preforms a service to the country that he loves. Shame on the judge, shame on the prosecutors, shame on all who are causing this fine man and his family these troubles.
Duane Chapman and his associates captured one of this country's most deplorable rapist and brought him back to the US to face the justice that our court has handed down. The Mexican government has dropped all of the charges and our own country has the audacity to still hold him liable. Our country should be singing his praises and thanking him for a job well done. He wanted this rapist to be held accountable for his actions and not reek havoc on the women of Mexico. Come on, who is riding reign on this judge who would do such a thing? Maybe this judge needs his fifteen minutes of fame. It would be interesting to know what kind of connection he has with the cosmetic heir's company. Hmmmmmmm!!!!!
That guy needs some punches to his ego. LOL. Maybe they can give him a decent hair cut over there.
There's a part of the situation most people don't understand.
In international law, the country that has the defendant (in this case, the USA) has to represent the interests of the foreign government (in this case, Mexico.)
So, the USA (whether they like it or not) is essentially representing Mexico in this case. Although the Mexican judge has thrown out the charges, according to news stories, the Mexican prosecutor has filed an appeal. So, the case is not totally over.
It seems the US government would prefer to just keep the bond in place until the appeals process is over. Otherwise, the government would have let Dog free and then have to go pick him up again. They probably think, 'Why bother to let him go if they may have to pick him up again?'
It's not like Dog is in jail -- Dog is free to travel for his work and TV show, with court permission.
Hopefully, this will all get resolved soon and the bond will be released.
But, the wheels of justice turn slowly.
Dog, thank you for going down and getting Luster and hopefully this will be over soon.
Follow the money...I absolutly believe that Andrew Luster, the guy that Dog brought to justice, has paid the Mexican authorities to pursue this case to the fullest. And it would not surprise me if this judge and/or his family is getting a kick-back in the form of money, trips or other.

I think we're going a bit too far with the hero worship stuff when we suggest that the Chapman's have had an impact on the nation as a whole. They catch criminals because it pays not because they have this moral fiber to clean up our streets. And what you see on TV is entertainment i.e. it is designed to entertain you not serve as a role model. With that said he did bring a serial rapist to justice and so our govt. should reward him for that. Especially if the Mexcians have dropped all charges.

Let me get this straight...
Our country can't catch sexual predator Andrew Luster so Dog takes it upon himself to nab him. He catches him, Luster's brought to justice, convicted and is in jail. The Dog is then apprehended for breaking Mexican law, Mexico acquiesces and forgives Dog but now the U.S. wants to try him? And we call this the home of the free? Don't you think the framing fathers would have looked at this series of actions in disbelief and said, 'What...you're kidding right?' There doesn't appear to be a lick of due process attached to this seemingly punitive measure our government is aggressively pursuing with Dog Chapman. Forget about all the great things this man has done, the obstacles he's overcome and the lives he's changed to the good. Is this really the kind of work our government should be doing? Ultimately, what's the purpose of all this? What message are they sending to U.S. citizens? Two words come to mind...travesty and tragedy. Free Dog Chapman!
It's funny that the majority of people on this site see Duane as a hero. How can somebody be a hero catching the same bad guys that he just bonded out?

'Dog' is no angel, regardless of all his Bible quoting. He also broke The law in Mexico when he went down to capture Luster. There is no way in hell that we would accept someone from a foreign country come into the US, 'capture' one of our citizens (even if he was a criminal) and whisk him off to some other land.
All you folks that are outraged at how 'the Dog' is being treated need to wake up and smell the coffee if you think the goverment of the United States gives a damn about any of you ..How about the thens of thousands of Katrina victims still without a home, as but one example. Our goverment is fast becoming nothing more then a corporate state where the only thing that matters is the stock holder's bottom line. And we, ladies and gents, as citizens are not the stock holders they mean. This is no accident, this is exactly what the Bu family planned.
I'm not afraid to politicize issue in this current state of affairs; If President Ron Paul was in office NOW this sort of thing would be over with the stroke of a pen!
It is appaling how the current adminstration treats good, honet, patriotic, lawabiding citizens - consieder our two Border Patrol agents sitting if Federal Prison now - as the current administration ignores them!

That being said, it's incredible that so many of these peons don't seem to have the intellect to understand that something is SERIOUSLY wrong here! Back when this extradition mess all began, US Marshalls stormed Dog's home and arrested him on 'Kidnapping' charges. This was wrong since the Mexican charge was only 'Deprivation Of Liberty, ' NOT 'Kidnapping'! But you couldn't get him extradited let alone arrested for that, so 'Kidnapping' was what was put on the arrest warrants. FRAME!

But it's becoming clear that somebody with a lot of power is manipulating things behind the scenes. Somebody is out to get the Dog, and it's somebody high up in the US justice system. Either someone is paying a lot of money to get Dog screwed over, or he has somehow innocently become involved in something that's way over his head!! Personally, I think the Dog is an American hero, and he is beloved the world over. He stands up for the little man, for the people! He does all that one man can do to help others, and then some! Chapman detained a bail jumper, with the aid of local mexican authorities and was then charged with mexican crimes.
How in god's name can a country legitimately bring charges when you do the deed in the presence of legal authority and with their consent!????????

I wrote to the White House and all of my legislators about this issue - and not a single one of them wrote back or otherwise acknowledged my letter. I don't understand what Dog could have done to draw the ire of our Government, but I strongly suspect it is that he succeeded in bringing that wealthy miscreant to justice where our own enforcement bodies either failed to act or failed to succeed. Maybe all these legal woes are some sort of recompense for Dog giving Bush's Justice Department a black eye?
Bear in mind that the same people who are harassing the Dog are the same ones who are trying to put a stranglehold against States that are seeking to expand the Children's Health Insurance Program. Maybe in 2008 you'll vote these miserable elitists out of office, as we should have done in 2004?

When I found DOG while running channels, it made me laugh like I laugh when I see All Star Wrestling (I fergit what they call it now). This is just good entertainment, I don't care what you psuedo intellectuals say. Now I can't bring myself to beleive the staged retrievels and lives turned around DOG shows, but I do beleive it's a damn fine story, and don't really care if it's dramatized, re-enacted or even half-fiction. My final point is that DOG really believes he is what he shows us. That which does not hurt us helps us. Dog is helping us: You see, we beleive in cleaning up our lives and getting right with our families, with the law, and maybe even with God. However you do that you are a great guy. He sets the example first, then gets paid to go out and re-fetch a certain slice of our society that needs a 'come to Jesus moment'. I just wish it were possible to expand his list. Aside from the fact that Dog performed a service for women the world over, by removing them from the 'Future Victims of Andrew Luster' list. He gave some peace of mind back to those women who were victims of Andrew Luster. He deserves thanks and praise.
I understand the international issues represented here. But as a citizen of this country, I'm wondering 2 things:
1: What happened to a speedy resolution of this matter?
2: As a taxpayer (whose worked her butt off for years and paid taxes)I'm wondering how my tax dollars are paying a salary and providing benefits for a federal judge to go on vacation for 2 1/2 months? I work 3 jobs to send my son to community college and try to pay my bills, Ive had 2 vacations in the past 25 years...yet I'm paying for a federal judge to take a 2 1/2 month vacation? That blows....
