It's pretty easy to rip on a show that gets cancelled after one season. Why? Because if a show gets cancelled after only one season, it pretty much means nobody watched it. So when anyone talks about it, they can say 'that show sucked' and the majority of the people will believe them without having watched one minute of said show. It must have sucked. It got cancelled after one season. But for those who actually watched John From Cincinnati, this is hardly the case. Yes the show was cancelled because it didn't draw in viewers, but the show was fantastic. I think people tuned out because the show was so far over everyone's heads, not many people could relate to it. It wasn't your typical show that told you what to think, you actually had to think on your own, which people in this country don't like doing. So please, watch the show and judge for yourself. Yes it's a difficult show. But the acting is great and the story is great. Go into it without any preconceived notions, and if after you watched it you still don't like it thats fine. But just because some jerk with a pen says it was awful, think on your own for once.
I saw John from Cincinnati, and it really sucked. Hooray for not canceling flight of the conchords!
John from Cincinatti could have been good but they chose to go down he road of abstract existentialism instead of sticking in the direction the second episode seemed to be going in. The second episode was solid with a good story developing and wrapped me in for a bit, but then it just got annoyingly pretentous and without any focus. The only thing I really felt like doing was givng the writers a big heads up saying 'you don't even get this crap,' because it was crap. It was too bad they went off on such a tangent could it could have been a cohesive story with very interesting characters in this family. I had adult dreams about that junkie brother. Hot as balls.
Flight of the Conchords was funny sometimes but not nearly as funny as Lucky Louie (which was canceled after one season). HBO is so out of whack right now! John From Cincinnati wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. There was just no way that Milch, or anyone, could have made it work in one season...therefore, it was doomed.
I am a huge Deadwood fan and although everyone says the movies will never be made, the cancelation of JFC gives me a little more hope.
I maybe watched 3 episodes of Flight, and I don't look forward to watching more. It's like a Tenacious D meets Monty Python meets Dumb and Dumber. Sounds better than it is. Make this 2nd season count guys...there's no way you're getting a 3rd.
