Well, it looks like Colbert's ratings are finally so low he's 'jumping the shark.' To make matters worse, the best he can come up with is that someone threw a glass of water on him. This is the Jerry Springer generation... A glass of water? who cares?

This whole 'controversy' is simply a parody of Richard Branson and Clive Anderson, a British TV interviewer. At some point in the last few years, Richard Branson got mad at Clive Anderson, who has a decidedly pointed sense of humor, and dumped a glass of water on his head. It's so great though to see all the news sources jumping at this ridiculous story. Thanks for the free publicity for one of my favorite TV shows, suckers.

I would have to agree that the person who wrote of the Colbert Report's low ratings is delusional at best, humor-impaired, and a clueless Republican. Colbert is the funniest thing on television. Get over yourself!

RatingsAug 15th, 2007 - 17:10:50

The Colbert Report is one of the highest rated shows on Comedy Central, and routinely retains roughly 98% of the The Daily Show's audience (The Daily Show, btw, is the highest rated daily program on the network). It appears as if that poster may have been engaging in a little 'truthiness' of his own.

Judging from the low ratings comment I see why this country is in the fix it is in. Too much led in the water I think. So, Steve, how does it feel to be one of only two 'journalists' left in America still brave enough to speak the 'truth' in the vein of long lost greats like Walter Cronkite. You and Mr. Stewart are truly heroes in an industry full of cowards, an industry that use to literally protect us from our 'leaders' getting away with abusing us and our way of life. Its too bad flat liners end up running for office while the truly bright and gifted people of this generation end up on Comedy Central.

One doesn't need to be a liberal to enjoy Colbert. I wouldn't call myself a liberal and I watch Colbert. I think he's the most clever social-political humorist today. If humor is well done and not hateful, political leanings are irrelevant.

It's amusing that anyone should think that this would be some kind of stunt coordinated by the network, or Colbert himself in light of ratings.. Have the ratings on the Report EVER been any less than exceptional?
