Joe Mantegna will fill the spot left open after the departure of Mandy Patinkin on CBS “Criminal Minds.”
Variety reports that while CBS and the show’s producers wouldn’t comment, “Minds” showrunner Ed Bernero confirmed the casting over the weekend on the Criminal Minds Fanatic blog.
No details of the new character or when Mantegna will make his debut were released.
Mantegna starred in CBS “Joan of Arcadia” for two seasons, playing a cop in the family drama. Mantegna also starred in CBS “First Monday” in 2002, and appeared in the hit CBS miniseries “The Last Don,” and its sequel.
Most recently, Mantegna produced and narrated MOJO's "The Show" and starred in USA network miniseries “The Starter Wife.”
Mandy Patinkin left “Minds” producers abruptly leaving the show to scramble for a replacement.
