Stan Lee is a living icon for comic fans.  Lee, with several artist co-creators - notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko - co-created Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Daredevil, Doctor Strange and many other characters.

He took Marvel Comics from a small time publishing house and morphed it into an enormous multimedia corporation.

When asked in a recent interview for UGO.com what Lee looked for in a super hero, the vital comic entrepreneur replied: "I'm looking for somebody that the viewers would enjoy watching and listening to. It sounds easy, but to find those kinds of people is difficult.

Then you have another problem with the show. You might find two people who you think would be great but they're a little too similar. You also want a lot of variety. You want someone who is strong, you want one weaker, you want a woman, a man, you want a special kind of a woman, and a special kind of a man...I think the toughest part of the show is picking the contestants. After that, it pretty much works out for itself."

The latest contestants include:

Basura, who communicates with insects to enlist their help and can tell by touching an object how it was made.

The Defuser - an expert at gadgetry.

Ms. Limelight gains the powers of characters in action movies.

Hyper-Stryke is a martial-arts specialist who can use his sweat as a weapon.

Whip-Snap gets her power from her whip and turns enemies to dust.

Mindset has the power of telekinesis and wears armor 'from the future.'

Fans of the "Hebrew Hammer" take note: Mr. Mitzvah can use his Star of David paddle to deflect any attack.

Braid is a shape shifter who can appear as any age, race, or gender.

Parthenon gains his power from an ancient gauntlet called the Armaguard.

Hygeina fights crime and grime with a domestic cleaning arsenal.

As per season one, Stan Lee appears in a separate screen to direct the superheroes to various tasks.
