It is being reported that NBC has agreed to pay $1 million for Paris Hilton's first after-jail interview, which will appear on the "Today" show, The New York Post claims.
The Post sources say Meredith Vieira will interview Paris the day after the club crawler is released from the pokey.
The Post contends this has caused an alleged network war, with irate ABC executives banking on Hilton's interview scoop going to Barbara Walters, the chosen journalist to ask Paris the hard questions about life in the big house.
The Post writes: "NBC Universal boss Jeff Zucker personally called Hilton's father Rick and made the pitch."
"Hilton agreed to the interview, but said she'd only speak with Vieira because of 'disparaging' remarks her co-host Matt Lauer made about her," reports the New York Post.
The Post claims the mail crush for Hilton has been overwhelming, nearly 5,000 pieces of mail were sent to Hilton during her three weeks behind bars, and she's said to be writing back to her admirers.

When she appears on the Today Show, I hope Paris is armed with facts regarding the number of inmates with felony convictions that were let out of jail while the public urged a corupt prosecutor and press hungry judge to hold her much longer than anyone else with the same situation. For Example: Soraya Lopez convicted 6/13/07 of a felony charge and sentenced to 45 days (also convicted of a misdemeanor and sentenced 13 days) was let out on early release on 6/14/2007. Ms. Lopez claimed in an artlce that she was released because they need room for Paris. Those that wanted Paris to serve her time in jail may be interested in what types of covicts were given early release because Paris had to be held in jail.
Paris go to Greta, ('On the Record')she has been the most objective with this story.
I am an avid watcher of the 'Today Show', but this almost makes me want to discontinue viewing it after this ridiculous story. If Paris or the show would donate the entire amount to a charity, that would be a different situation, but I would still not want to watch this interview regardless!!!!
you guys scooped this tidbit even before TMZ
