CBS is offering a new reality show in a twist similar to the premise of 'Lord of the Flies' where a group of 8 to 15-year-olds will create their own society, reports Variety.
Showrunner Tom Forman is producing the 13-episode project, its working title: "Kid Nation."
The show is expected, according to variety, to unveil today at CBS' upfront presentation.
Variety claims CBS execs "became excited about its breakout potential."
Citing the aging reality hits like 'Survivor", CBS has put a huge priority on the next big reality hit. Effort begins in earnest later this month with "Pirate Master," premiering on the same date "Survivor" originally debuted.
The tentatively titled "Kid Nation," show "will follow 40 kids for 40 days, observing them as they attempt to build a new society from scratch," reported Variety
The Location? Bonanza City, N.M., an abandoned ghost town where the children live without parental supervision and modern-day comforts.
The Goal? The kids must create a functional society. They have to pass laws, choose leaders and build an economy. The "needs" versus the "wants".
The Consequences? Kids, according to Variety, "can go home when they want to." Each show will end with a feel-good moment in which one kid is selected by his peers to earn a major reward.
