LaKisha Jones may have been voted off last night, but the big voice and sweet smile that we came to know each week has a bright future ahead of her that was light years from her reality prior to the Fox singing contest she entered on a dream and a prayer.
LaKisha Jones tells news reporters she's focusing on two goals: a record contract and her new home.
The Flint, Michigan native and single mom was the latest casualty of Fox network's talent contest Wednesday night.
Jones was live on the air at WJBK-TV in Detroit, telling an interviewer that she is looking forward to pursuing a recording career and eventually moving into a new home.
In addition, Jones will appear on the upcoming summer "American Idol" tour, and will be included in the season finale episode of the top-rated show.
"I'm not going to get any rest," she said to WJBK listeners.
The remaining contestants are Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks and Melinda Doolittle.
Jones was pragmatic about the voting tally results: "..This is it. This is where it's going to end.' I kind of figured that me and Blake would be in the bottom. I just thought, `You know what? OK, my time is up.'"
Jones and her 4 year old daughter now have a chance at a life they only could have dreamed about, a future where anything is possible for the talented singer who turned many industry heads.
