Elvis Presley performed from beyond the grave with Celine Dion in a special 'American Idol' show last night (25.04.07).
A host of stars took to the stage for 'Idol Gives Back', including 'The King' who appeared as hologram, to raise money for impoverished children in the US and Africa.
Adding to the theme of generosity, none of the contestants were kicked off the show this week.
'American Idol' presenter Ryan Seacrest said: "All your favourites are still in the competition. How could we let anyone go on a charity night?"
Kelly Clarkson - who has won two Grammys since she won 'American Idol' in 2002 - returned to the show's stage.
'School of Rock' star Jack Black performed Seal's 'Kiss From A Rose'.
He was panned by judge Paula Abdul, who joked: "The School of Rock called, they want their diploma back."
Other acts included Annie Lennox and Josh Groban with the African Children's Choir. Madonna and Ben Stiller made recorded messages asking viewers to donate generously. British actress Keira Knightley and 'Music And Lyrics' star Hugh Grant also featured in the two-hour concert at Los Angeles' Walt Disney Concert Hall.
As well as raising funds, the two-hour show hoped to increase awareness of the new Charity Projects Entertainment Fund and similar organisations that support children and young people affected by extreme poverty.
Event host Ellen DeGeneres announced she was donating $100,000.
