'American Idol': Then there were...still six!

Blame it on everyone's charitable peace, love and harmony mood, but tonight's "Idol" promised to be "the most shocking Idol of all", and it was a big fat ruse.
Ryan Seacrest opened up the show by saying this Idol show would feature the most shocking result ever. Gambling websites that are making odds on all this Idol business actually had Melinda Doolittle listed as a potential elimination. Suckers.
Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis were safe early on. Phil Stacey and LaKisha Jones are safe. So is Chris Richardson and a tortured but happy Jordin Sparks who will remain.
The angle for tonight's show essentially halted any progress for this interminable season of "Idol."
It appears that this week's votes will be added to next week's votes. Of course the adorable teenager Jordin was left as the last one in tears thinking she gets the boot after Chris is told he's safe, then Ryan busts out with, "We told you it was a shocker. Jordin, You're also safe. How could we send someone home on charity night?"
Annoying ending to a show that needs to find its center again.
