Actor Tom Selleck is in discussions to join the cast of NBC's "Las Vegas" as the series new leading man, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Selleck, if he is to become the new leading man, will play the calculating and lusty for life new owner of Montecito Resort & Casino, a new character written in to fill the void left by James Caan.
THR had reported earlier that Caan, who was the lead actor, recently left the series to return to feature film.
"Vegas," from NBC Universal TV Studio and DreamWorks TV, was picked up for a fifth season in February and is slated to begin production on its order soon.
The show also is looking to replace the departed Nikki Cox. The show's casting directors are looking to replace her with a new beautiful female concierge.
Selleck's role, if he accepts, will be his first return to series television since "Magnum, P.I."
