'Knight Rider' KITT can be yours, for a price

ABC News is reporting that Johnny "Vette" Verhoek of Kassabian Motors has had the car, officially called Knight Industries Two Thousand displayed for a month."For sale" KITT allegedly is one of four camera cars producers used for close-up shots and scenes where Hasselhoff, aka Michael Knight, was behind the wheel.The only special car feature from the movie that actually does what it did on film is the red scanner light on the nose glows and makes a humming noise.ABC lists the features of the car as having two working video screens on the dashboard, cockpit buttons that light up in green, yellow and red: ski mode, rocket boost, micro jam, silent mode, oil slick and eject."Most of the buttons don't do anything," Verhoek said to ABC. "Whoever buys the car will probably keep it in a private collection, or it may be purchased by a museum," said Verhoek of KITT the car that is not considered "street legal.".Owner Tim Russo of Livermore has dutifully restored KITT, and is banking on timing to be his ally for optimal market price, with the 25th anniversary of the show's debut coming soon.ABC reports that Russo purchased the car 10 years ago at an auction in San Diego.

What? A 1982 Trans-Am for 142 G's! Whatever! Some people have nothing else to blow their money on obviously! Then again, I thought that show was about as stupid as David Asslehoff!

Regardless if the car sells or not Kassabian Motors was given free publicity.

The Batmobile, Mach 5, Munster Mobile and others have been restored. Like it or not KITT is part of the 80's, and should be kept some place safe.
