i agree that sanjaya should have been eliminated form the competition a long time ago. it is understandable why persons (voters) allowed him to continue the next week after the first week or second week but he isnt improving at all. it may be the fact that he cant improve or come out a little out of his comfort range or that he simply cant.in both cases, this shows that he isnt idol material.then why do voters continue to vote for him instead of other very talented singers who do try to impress us. i dont know!!! it is getting unbearable seeing him come back each week with those outrageous hairstyles (if it was up to me i would have cut it off). it makes him like his sister (which isnt a good thing at all). what would be a major disappointment is if he goes further than the more talented contestants like lakeisha, melinda, and blake.now this would be a decline in A.I quality.
I think we should just have some faith in American Idol and in Americans. For Howard Stern to step in and do this is totally wrong. I'd like to get together a whole lot of people and boycot his filthy show.
Sanjaya is a nice boy, lets let this thing play out. He'll go home soon. The best will still win out.
Sanjaya is the only reason that I watch this show on a weekly basis. The other contestants are boring, generic and highly unlikely to ever reach Idol status. Sanja on the other hand makes the show interesting. He is certainly not the most talented singer but he does provide a stage presence and a uniqueness that makes him stand out for both good and bad reasons. Sanjaya rocks the house!
This is proof that the judges/producers need to have an overide capacity to undo a grave injustice in the voting as this is supposed to be a vocal competition.

This is the most disappointing year of American Idol for me. I have been an Idol fan from the start. However, Sanjaya can't sing, he is tone deaf and should not be on the show. His outrageous hairstyles are like a slap in the face to one of the most popular shows on television. It's like he is making fun of the other contestants by remaining on the show. As for Howard Stern's part in this matter, I don't know who would allow Stern to convince them of anything, such as voting on American Idol. That man is a menace. He has no respect for women and should not be allowed even on the air. If it ends up that Sanjaya wins Idol, I will not watch the show next year. He is not talented and should have been eleminated many weeks ago. It' s not funny anymore and I am with Simon on the matter, it doesn't seem to matter what anyone says anymore.
I am a musician and lover of music for 60 plus years. I beleive in fair competition and everyone on American Idol should be judged, as the showed was presumidly intended for, on their performance as SINGERS. Sanjaya may be an idol to the young generation for perhaps his looks, but certainly not for his singing ability. It is not fair for people who have gifted talent with their voice to be voted off because someone has won a popularity contest. If this continues, I beleive that the American Idol show will have to change their posture on the voting procedures. They will have to copy the voting procedures that are similar to Dancing With The Stars. Simply, the public votes would represent 50% of the voting and the judges would represent the remaining 50% voting. Thank you. Joe Costelli, North Haven, Connecticut.

Yes, yes.. It's just the same as it is every year. The worthless v4tw site tries to pick a contestant to label as the worst. It does this knowing that fans love to have a scapegoat to attack and blame. They hint that they sound horrible over and over. They did this last year too.
Even though they were powerless to keep Antonella in they have the nerve to move on to the next one. They keep telling everyone they are the worst and have caused the elimination of their beloved favorite. If they are so powerful, why didn't Antonella stay in?
They cause people to get mad at the contestant.. In this case, it's now Sanjaya. Because they love their favorite so much, they want to believe the hype and lies. They never want to accept that their favorite may have lacked something that caused them to go home or perhaps they were forgettable.
No, it's way easier to blame someone else. If the bashed contestant stays in long enough, fraudulent news teams realize there is money or notoriety to be made off the stories. They know all they have to do is feed the story and voila!
Next thing you know, there are articles claiming the contestants are pissed off with Sanjaya. Of course we know that news writers have never been deceptive before right? (sarcasm).
I guess next is the public execution of Sanjaya? But if not that, then one thing is for sure. v4tw is getting exactly what it wanted. It has made people upset and angry by daring to suggest it can actually cause a contestant to stay in. And to think, all that chaos just to support their own selfish cause. And Howard Stern is clever for directing some of American Idol traffic for his own selfish promotion.
Joe Costelli - As a music veteren I'm surprised you are unaware that being a successful recording artist is all about a combination of factors. Sanjaya is a good singer. He can't keep up with Melinda or Lakisha, or a couple of others, but he has a good recording voice that if put to the right music would sell many records.
The same can not be said about all the contestants with the so called better voices that have gone home. An artist that draws lots of attention with a reasonable voice will sell more than an artist with a fantastic voice who doesn't have what it takes to present themselves in the framework of American Idol.
That said, the reason Sanjaya is in the competition is because of how he presents him self. He's not my idea of an American Idol, but then again there are 10 other good singers that also are not my idea of a favorite either. There are other fans out there who love him though.

I've heard that votefortheworst is associated with the KKK. The KKK doesn't like American Idol because the show gives African Americans and other minorities a chance at a once-in-a-lifetime career. Votefortheworst is a front operation for the KKK. Howard Stern is an unwitting dupe of the KKK. How sad.
the top contenders are all black, and past winners and top runner ups have been black...so what you are saying is bollocks! The KKK - if they were true to form, probably wouldn't even watch much less promote this show.
Psst -- you can't read. The KKK is behind votefortheworst in order to PREVENT the highly talented other performers (most of whom are African Americans) from winning. Learn to read before you throw your 'bollocks' around.
You know it is a shame that life is so bad. There are people in America say they love America,.But this world has gotten so bad. You try to do what you love and try to make a differance. Then you have bad people who try to always hurt things in life. That is why the world is so bad today. These kids are trying so hard to go somewhere in life and dumb terrible people do this to a good show trying to help them and let them carry their dreams. It is really terrible that their is so much hate in this world. Please American Idol and Simon do something fast. Don't make the show go away for one stupid bad singer and all his sick followers. Sanjaya is an American Indian..Most of his votes are coming from immigrants from India who are now residing in the States..You get a minority of people..give them one of them, and they will automatically vote for him. Thats a no brainer. I should know...a couple of years ago Jasmine Trias was in American Idol and look how far she got? 3rd place..Dude's do you know how many Filipinos are in Americe? Can you imagine how many Indians are there in the US?? Perhaps double that of the Filipinos...So to those Sanjaya lovers im sure he's staying for a long ride..to those who dont like him..just sit down and wait for his next hairdo...This is what makes the show so intriguing!!!!

Come on Sanjaya BELT out that voice and quit being scared. Show America what you have that they do not think that you do. Confidence and staying Positive through all of this will help. You are quite the entertainer on this show. You will go far with the right combo of things in the right package. Don't let us down!!!

I think it is the judges who should be fired - all three of them for putting Sanjaya in the top 24.

For many years AI has tried to get musicians and record producers to take the contestants on AI seriously. This has failed with sanjaya the dork. At least last years contestant, Chicken Little could sing. With the onslought of Vote for the Worst and Howard Stern promoting sanjaya. They are a bunch of losers who if they lived up what they are professing, sanjaya would not be promoted as he is considered third for votes. So I think Haley or someone else should be getting their promotion now. Then again how can you take any of them seriously anyway. Thank heavens for the mute button reserved for sanjaya, Rosie from The View, and Howard Stern. Idiots.

I can not stand Sanjaya! Why are people voting for him and making him a big deal! Hes terrible! If he makes it threw, I will NEVER watch American Idol again! Something needs to happen with this kid! I have watched American Idol 6 from the start and have actually grown to like Sanjaya Malakar 's ever fun personality - even in the face of harsh and absurd criticism !
Ok yes, his Indianness has a lot to do with my voting, but that is not all ! I do think he is a much better entertainer than Lakisha, Phil or Melinda who belt fabulous tunes......which no teenager would download ! Would you?

I have watched Simon when he judges.....he does not look at the contestant.....he judges the way a person sounds. Although many of the singers on this year's American Idol sound PERFECT.....like Lakisha and Melinda.....It is not perfection in singing that will sell records. I see myself tuning to another radio station if I hear Lakisha ......yes they are very good singers but they have NO PERSONALITY and are definitely not contemporary!

At best they could be performing in wedding bands. It's totally absurd that people take this show seriously and claim that this guy's continuing is 'ruining the show' or 'making it less serious'. It's not serious. It's a bunch of hacks being voted on by a bunch of people who know nothing about music.l
Get over yourselves. Your vote, your opinion and your thoughts on music do not matter. Do all of us a favor, go take a class in remedial music.
I am tired of sanjaya. i too am a teenager and unless they add a lot of enhancements to his voice he too like last seasons american idol album is going to flop!!!! i like lakeisha . she has a voice that persons of all age groups can appreciate. she is versatile and can sing anything. sanjaya is boring. his singing is FLAT and BORING.he has an ok voice.just Ok. to me he is just there.his performance doesnt stand out to me.when he is singing i stop watching. jordan is young also. but she too has a powerful voice. and a good stage performance.sanjaya unlike the other contestants dont even try to improve.it is unbearable at this point.no matter what kind of training or advice he recieves he continues to do the same thing and doesnt improve or at least make an effort to.
