Sci Fi network and Branson's Virgin Comics join forces

The cable premium network Sci Fi Channel has joined forces creatively with Richard Branson's Virgin Comics to create comic books that will be developed into content for feature film, television, digital and gaming.
The Hollywood Reporter reports five new comic book titles will begin the joint venture, dubbed Sci Fi/Virgin Comics.
THR speculates the intent is to create original properties spun out over many mediums.
Sci Fi is owned by NBC Universal are reported to have "first look" at any projects that come out of the partnership.
Sci Fi and Virgin are equal partners in the joint venture according to THR. An eight-member editorial board that will represent comics, television, movies, digital, gaming, licensing and merchandising are to be responsible for deciding which stories make the cut.
