Jade Goody evicted from controversial Big Brother show

Jade Goody, 25, was voted out of the TV reality show by 82 per cent of callers giving their verdict in a phone vote, following a turbulent week of protests over the alleged racist bullying of Shetty.
London - A British Big Brother contestant at the centre of an alleged racism row involving Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty was overwhelmingly evicted from the controversial show by viewers Friday.
Jade Goody, 25, was voted out of the TV reality show by 82 per cent of callers giving their verdict in a phone vote, following a turbulent week of protests over the alleged racist bullying of Shetty.
Channel 4, the TV station broadcasting the Celebrity Big Brother programme, decided in the last minute to bar the public from a post-eviction event.
Goody, who together with two other participants had branded the Indian actress a 'dog' and told her 'to go back to the slums,' had rapidly lost support with the public and media.
Meanwhile Shetty, 31, who was praised by the media for the cool sophistication with which she handled the attacks on her, appeared to be taken aback by the row and its political fallout.
She was heard sobbing as the eviction was announced, saying she would 'pray' that Goody would 'have no problems' as a result of the highly-charged events of the last week.
The two women had made up before the eviction.
'I think it's a sequence of events that created that misunderstanding and made me believe for maybe a fraction of a second that I thought she was being racist but I don't think so today, in hindsight, that she was being racist,' Shetty said earlier.
The furore over the alleged racist remarks caused uproar in India and prompted comments from top politicians, including Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown, who was on a visit to India during when the row was at its peak.
But in what was an overwhelming public reaction, more than 36,000 people complained about the programme to Britain's broadcasting watchdog, and mobile phone company Carphone Warehouse suspended its sponsorship of the show.

jade goody is a political scape goat. i don't particularly like jade but this is has been well blown out of proportion. The tension in the house was caused by differences in class and social backgrounds.
I agree this whole thing has been blown out of proportion......there is no way that Jade is racist.....yes she may have a big mouth and yes she may not think before putting it into action.....but i mean she isnt exactly an intellect, i mean not knowing that cornwall was in england, so one could hardly call her a mastermind behind rascist abuse.......I think they have picked on the wrong person, ~In my eyes Danielle and Jo are much worse, it makes me laugh to read that some people also think that Jade would be capable of swaing their thoughts esp Jo.....there the nasty little bitches.~Ihave heard more racist language in the media and on the tv, yet noone ever seems to question that......and if we are going to nit pick people, didn't Jermaine call someone....'white trash' hardly politically correct now is it!!!!! borderingon the lines of rascism i would say.......yet i wouldnt cause im not that pathetic and picky......I have a LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Next year they should have a Jewish fundamentalist a Muslim fundamentalist. A low Caste Indian and High Cast Indian. A white supremacist, a Nation of Islam member (the black only organisation in the states). Why not throw in a length of rope to see who gets lynched first. I might even bother watching big brother with house mates like that.
I hope this story ends the crop utter shite spread accross UK tv. We have a government which promotes and rewards stupidity through the benefits system and we are surprised(?) when one of the chosen Welfare Class makes a fools of us. If I had my way I would put something in the water on the council estates to stop breeding of the Welfare Class. A bit of a Nazi vibe there but hey in for a penny.

i think it was not a racial comment but i do think it was bullying and i think people is forgetting jo and danielle are bitches 2 there all bullys so they should be punished to
i think jade is a foul mouth, fake, dirrty slut. she deserved everything she got. i still think jamaine should have won it though shilpa deseverd it baecause of what she went through..................

That comment is racist in its self to white culture! If i said exactly the same about indian women i would be sentenced to life. Why is this country full of double standards. As much as i hate jade and co, and they probably have the least right to be rich and famous, people have said worse things and the fact that people are kicking up such a fuss about it is because of the medias' work and it shows what mindless sheep people can be. What jade said isnt racist, it was small minded sterotypical comments that was said with lack of fore-thought. Do these girls really deserve their life ruinned because of positive discrimination and the most controlled free will i have ever seen. I would like to see the headlines if shilpa called jade roast beef or fish and chips: they would most probably commend her.
I think jade should be given a severe trainning first in her english, because the accent she is having is not at all a good one.she can't even say the word (terrible) correctly. iam still wondering how she got that guts to say things like that in a television show.it is really painful to watch our indian star treated like that.shila has proved that we indians are very very generous people.
