The busy television division of DreamWorks has recently had principal Steven Spielberg shepherding a new series, according to Variety, based on an original idea from producer/director Spielberg.
Premium cable network Showtime is developing a single-camera domestic comedy with a high-concept twist surrounding the family's mother.
Writer Diablo Cody, who penned the upcoming feature "Juno" and book "Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper" is set to write the untitled Showtime comedy.
According to DreamWorks executives, they say it's a "tour de force role" for whichever lucky actress lands the female "mom" role.
Diablo Cody was cited as an example of new writers courted by DreamWorks and their new development chief, Jonathan Berry, who sources say has "canvassed the town" to find great voices for DreamWorks television projects.
