Ricky Gervais' drama move
Sep 14, 2006, 11:59 GMT
Ricky Gervais wants to write and star in a drama series.
The comic star, famous for creating and starring in comedy shows 'Extras' and 'The Office', is a great fan of American programmes like 'The Sopranos' and '24' and would love to create something similar based in the UK.
He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I've got so many ideas in my head. I love starting from the beginning again, that's just brilliant, I think I could appear in a drama."
Gervais - who won a clutch of prestigious Golden Globe awards for 'The Office' - insists he isn't worried about his comic past affecting his new ambitions.
He said: "I know people might say I couldn't be taken seriously because of what I've done in the past but I think it just depends on how strong and well-written it is."
