Mel Gibson developing Holocaust mini series
Dec 7, 2005, 23:58 GMT
New York - Actor-turned-producer Mel Gibson is developing a nonfiction television mini series on the Holocaust, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
Gibson, whose 'Passion of the Christ' made headlines and was criticized by some as anti-Semitic, will base the series on a memoir of Flory A. Van Beek, A Dutch Jew, The Times said.
The project is in its early stages and there is no guarantee it will come to fruition, The Times said. Gibson was not expected to act in the series that reportedly would be produced by his company, Con Artists Productions, for American broadcaster ABC.
Gibson's father, Hutton Gibson, has repeatedly denied that the Holocaust happened, asserting before the release of 'The Passion of the Christ' that accounts of the Holocaust were mostly 'fiction,' The Times reported.
