From Monsters and Critics.com Smallscreen Features What an interesting night tonight, as Ryan Seacrest heralds the most contemporary set of songs so far for “Rock ‘n Roll” week. David Cook sings “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran for his first song. I love Cook, but this was an uninspired rendition. Judges are warm-ish, Randy was not bowled over. His second song was The Who's “Baba O’Reilly” - he changed up the tempo and really knocked a great performance out of the park. Randy comes alive. Likes this one better, Paula loves it and Simon was positive too. Syesha Mercado chose “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner. The judges, and especially Randy, are effusive about her performance. Her next song is “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke. Randy didn't feel it, or the arrangement either. Paula and Simon both loved it. Syesha is overwhelmed. Jason Castro tips his hat to Bob Marley with, “I Shot the Sheriff” Oh boy. Randy calls if Karaoke Marley, Paula winces and Simon ripped him,"atrocious" and butchering it and then blasts Jason for choosing the song. Jason then performs “Mr. Tambourine Man” by Bob Dylan. Wearing his trademark sheepish grin afterward, Castro acknowledged: "I lost some lines in there; that's kinda bad." Simon wraps up the sentiment: Time to pack your bags, Jason. David Archuletta sang “Stand By Me” by Louis Armstrong. Great performance and he put his heart into it. All the judges loved it. David then sings “Love Me Tender.” Again, the judges love him, especially Paula. The night's disaster hands down was Jason Castro. Jason forgot some of the lyrics to "Mr.Tambourine Man." He's done. Will Syesha's tears win over America and help her stay? Will Cook and Archuleta face off as the last two men standing? See you after the bloodletting. © Copyright 2007 by monstersandcritics.com.
