From Monsters and Critics.com Smallscreen Features Drew Hastings is a great comedian, actor and writer who has been around a long time; not a flashy talent like Dane Cook or an illusive one like Dave Chappelle, but a real all-American urbane observer who made a big mark in comedy circles with his "Business of Living" seminars starring his Robbins-esque character, Jack Freeman. It was Jack's salient advice to "surround yourself with losers" and seizing opportunities like yard sales, kitten auctions and marketing psychedelics to already stoned concert-goers that had the Mid-Westerner born of an aloof and proper English mum (war bride) make his mark, hitting the scene in Los Angeles and becoming a favorite of casting directors and a regular performer at the famous Melrose Improv. Hastings has been a touring phenomenon for the last twenty odd years with a devout following, especially in his home turf of the Mid-West. Drew's initial appearances on the radio team, Bob and Tom Show were so well received that he became a regular guest, regaling listeners with his stories, questioning his life and everyone else's, and giving his comedic opinions on just about any topic listeners could throw at him. Now you have a chance to see his act uncensored on Comedy Central this Saturday night, it's a no miss and must see event for anyone who loves whip-smart comedy. Drew isn’t only irked, he’s miffed too. Hence, the “Irked and Miffed” Drew Hastings' Special: airing Saturday, April 26 at 11p/10c. "Isn't it ironic that the finest coffees in the world come from countries where no one has a reason to get up in the morning?" muses Hastings, who also shares a hilarious moment describing his first encounter with a chainsaw on his new farm in Ohio, a place the city dweller never thought he would wind up. It is his uncanny observational ability and talent to extract the ridiculous kernel of truth in any situation and relate his angst in completely engaging stories that sets Hastings head and shoulders above average set-up joke comics. His physical presence always turns heads; he is tall, 6'6" tall to be exact, handsome and always clad in a tailored black suit and trademark black horn-rimmed glasses. He also has a full head of unruly "just been...." hair that is the envy of any man over 30. Drew moved from Ohio to Los Angeles in the early 1990's, where he his acting abilities landed him a number of guest-starring roles. Drew has done television pilots for some of the big networks including Fox, NBC, and HBO. His convoluted yarns of love, business opportunities and life lessons have been the subjects for SRO crowds in three different one-person shows, "Commencement Speech," "Life & Other Short Stories" and "The Business of Living," his satirical take on the success/motivational industry. Drew spends much of his time headlining with "The Friends of the Bob and Tom Show" which has played over 70 cities thus far. Watch him this weekend.
