I didn't want to like The Situation.
His show "Jersey Shore" is one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse on television for those of us over the age of 35.
But last night's fare-thee-well to the mesomorph from Manalapan revealed his personality in excellent B-roll snippets that revealed the MTV braggart as a charming doofus who has a pretty good sense of comedic timing.
He and professional partner Karina Smirnoff came into the show in last place after performing an Argentine tango Monday that one judge called "a terrible mess." His line after his fated tango, "Karina's all in one piece, so that's what matters," was unintentionally hilarious.
In fact, you could say that ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" has come into its own with superbly produced side B-roll segments that feature droll Len Wiseman in "10 Commandments of Len," "10 Outta Len" which mine this Englishman's patented brand of withering humor.
His exhausted patience with fellow dancing judge Bruno is side-eye heaven, as the Italian motormouth raises eyebrows with his exuberant cheerleading for anything remotely cha cha sexy. Len is the boomerang of comedic gold that hits you out of nowhere and really leaves a mark.
So sadly, after scoring the lowest on Monday's Dancing With the Stars, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was a stroppy cow as he sulked in the parking lot, bemoaning the judges' wrath via low scores.
Partner Karina Smirnoff weathered the Jersey Guido melodrama as best she could, but she knows this animal, telling Monsters and Critics last season that she was "a New York girl at heart" and loved the energy of the city.
Sorrentino, 29, joins previously eliminated contestants David Hasselhoff, Michael Bolton and Margaret Cho.
Tuesday's episode also featured musical performances by the Goo Goo Dolls in a Vegas medley of their old hits and a brilliant vocal performance by Florence + The Machine, and a dance performance by the cast of "Forever Tango."
Returning to dance Monday will be actors Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Florence Henderson; singer-actress Brandy; athletes Kurt Warner and Rick Fox; reality star Audrina Patridge and Bristol Palin.
