This morning at the Nokia Center, Monsters and Critics caught up with Jimmy Fallon, the host of the Emmys this weekend.
Fallon was dressed for the run through in a fetching suit, and shared his excitement over the opening numbers that will be replete with smallscreen royalty, including the indefatigable Betty White. "Betty is with me onstage, and she will be a big part of the entire event," he promised.

Fallon also expressed normal pre show jitters and quipped he had his Spanx ready and was excited for night, nerves be damned. Other A-Listers confirmed are George Clooney, the recipient of the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards air live this Sunday at 5:00 PDT/8:00 EDT on NBC.

M&C toured the Governor's Ball set up across from the Nokia, as the Convention Center was transformed into a celestial wonderland for the Emmy post-event where 3600 VIPs will drink, dance and schmooze under a panoply of lights and orbs mimicking the Milky Way.

Some Facts and Figures:
62nd Emmy's Go Green as the West Hall of the LA Convention center is a solar system wonder of light and beauty, but not at the Earth's expense.

While Ball attendees are sipping "The Emmy," one of the official drinks of the night:

2 parts Grey Goose Vodka L'Orange flavor
1 part peach brandy
1 part lime juice
2 dashes peach bitters
1/2 part simple syrup
1 peach slice
Fill a shaker with ice and add all ingredients. Shake well until the outside of the shaker is frosted and beaded with sweat. Strain into martini glass and enjoy with a peach slice added. (Super delicious! Yes we sampled alcohol before noon, don't tell the boss).

Non drinkers can enjoy a Smart Water bar filled with all their varieties of H2O.
They can marvel at the night's many stats:
3600 Guests
45 Bartenders
180 Cooks
2 Grey Goose bars
Beaulieu Vineyard wine bar
800 pounds of dark chocolates
300 pounds of chickpeas
14,400 Duncan Hines gourmet brownies in 3600 Zodiac themed boxes
30 performers for the night
565 Mirror ball rotating over the stage
20,000 white roses
5000 Calla lilies
1200 hard working staff ready to tend to everyone's needs

The celestial theme was stunning in person, cool tones of blue, silver and gold accents all made for a soothing and luxe underwater outer space feel as the stage was central to every table's view.

The 60 foot wide elevated circular dance floor and revolving orchestra sits under a giant mirror ball, and the effects of a virtual Milky Way have been recreated by stage and set designers with clever lights and strings of orbs and other effects.

Chef Alec Lestr, executive chef of Patina catering presented me the food for the evening which will include a rack of Lamb with dried fruit crumble, Chickpea puree, and basil marinated grilled eggplant with summer veggies and rosemary juice. It smelled heavenly.

Dessert is dark chocolate decadence with smoked fleur d'sel Duncan Hines chewy fudge brownies, which Monsters and Critics sampled and were stunned they were from a box mix. (Doctored up a bit of course)

The wine is all from a wonderful winery, Beaulieu's Chardonnay and Cabernets will be flowing, and the dessert wine is a Muscat de Beaulieu. Champagne is Moet and Chandon Imperial and the hard stuff is all Grey Goose. Scotch drinks are out of luck.

The greening of the Emmys is newsworthy this year. Storage for the food is in reusable containers. Service ware including glass is reusable, and the to-go items are biodegradable, and the service ware does not contain Styrofoam/oil based plastic. All surplus food is to be donated to the Midnight Mission.
Even the cooking oil is recycled and then converted into bio-diesel fuel.

The auto sponsor for the Governor's Ball is Infiniti, as company spokesperson Bonnie H. showed Monsters and Critics their new SUV QX56, sitting at the entrance for the night's guests to check out on the red carpet before they enter the ballroom. The SUV boasts more power and better fuel economy tying in with the night's green theme of reducing, reusing and recycling.
The table arrangements are succulents and mosses so the root systems and seedlings are protected ensuring the ability to replant and reuse them post event.
LEDs, CFLs and low voltage light fixtures are used for the event lighting.
Solar energy panels are on site to power the event. Recycled products are used in the set and stage designs and are recycled afterwards.
Emmys fun fact: Los Angeles has the highest recycling rate (65%) out of the 10 largest U.S. cities.
Even though M&C won't be present at the festivities this weekend, it was a fun escape on a very hot Los Angeles day to be inside the Convention Center for the Governor's Ball previews, and hope those who are attending are excited for the beautiful event.
