The two Steves are still with us on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."
Steve-O held on to his spot for at least one more week despite a back injury. Apple computer genius Steve Wosniak did too.
Unfortunately, the Go Go's lead singer Belinda Carlisle and her dancing partner Jonathan Roberts were released by the voters and the judges as the first season's casualties.
Rolling her eyes a bit and looking upset, Carlisle listened to the judges who admonished the singer for not being enough of a hip shaker in her salsa.
In the first elimination show of the eighth season, the lowest scoring partners were Carlisle, Roberts and the hearty and good-natured co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, and his partner, Karina Smirnoff.
The elimination-show dance-off was a first, in which the two low scoring couples would redo their dance for the judges and then have that score combined with the viewers’ votes.
Carlisle and Roberts revisited the salsa from Monday night, and Carlisle tried to inject her moves with a bit more energy. Judge Len Goodman gave them one fewer point than yesterday.
Cheerful Wozniak is so nice and just happy to be there that everyone responds to his energy with a positive response. He is the can-do poster child showing the right attitude can make a difference in anything.
His quickstep looked smoother, tighter and the judges responded with praise.
The other partners who received lower total scores from the judges—Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower, and Steve-O and Lacey Schwimmer—eeked out more voter support.
Amazing that years of taunting wild animals with his bare buttocks and drinking an assortment of foul fluids has not sent Steve-O to the hospital, but a dancing show does.
Outstanding dances were turned in by "Bachelor" reject Melissa Rycroft, Gilles Marini and even David Alan Grier. Grier is really terrific and deserved higher scores than what he got.
The swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy performed and it allowed the professionals-Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas, Tony Dovolani, Lacey Schwimmer, and brother and sister Derek and Julianne Hough a moment to show why they are on the show.
Kudos again to the costume department, hair and makeup which makes everyone look so darn good on stage. The hair styles were an homage to film glamour of the forties and the stars were are fitted with costumes that flattered their particular physique. Nice touch on the taped glasses for Wozniak.
The show featured ex contestant Jewel sing a countrified version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as Chelsie Hightower and Dmitry Chaplin danced.
