Now, American Idol Rewind returns to unveil the 196 lucky contestants that made it through the grueling audition process to Hollywood Week on Saturday, February 28 (check local listings).
The new episode looking back on Season 4 of ‘American Idol” will feature never-before-seen performances including Carrie Underwood and Vonzell Solomon teaming up in the group challenge, and Bo Bice paying tribute to his grandfather with an a cappella rendition of "Proud To Be An American".
In exclusive 2009 interviews, the Top 12 give a behind the scenes recount of the ins and outs of Hollywood Week. It’s a brutal elimination process, but in the end a handful of talented singers will have the opportunity to compete ‘live’ in front of the nation for the “American Idol” crown.
'Rewind' features never before seen moments, top performances and exclusive highlights from the important season.
Monsters and Critics caught up with Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis to ask him about his experience on the show.
What was the most rewarding thing that American Idol provided?
Constantine Maroulis: I think the chance to do what I love most in this world on the grandest stage of all was the most rewarding thing.
Is it harder to sustain a career in music versus acting?
Constantine Maroulis: For the most part I try not to think about sustaining anything in my career. I just concentrate on hard work and the quality of work. You live and learn. It’s about a slow burn for me. It’s not a sprint...it’s a marathon.
Which American Idol season (other than your own) was a stand out for you?
Constantine Maroulis: This much I know...season 4 was the most significant season ever. So much has changed since then in the world of Idol and music in general.
I believe we set up a lot of the success of the last few seasons. I enjoyed season 5 a great deal because it was so fresh off my own season.
To see Chris do so well after Bo and I introduced the "Rock" thing was awesome. He just took it to another level and in my opinion was very prepared when he came on the show. Where as Bo and I had no idea what we were getting into not having ever seen Idol before.
Favorite judge and why?
Constantine Maroulis: Honestly I love them all... I just think they all offer so much to the contestants. At the end of the day Simon makes the show.
