The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato hope Barack Obama's presidency can inspire and instill optimism for all kids in the U.S.
Lovato spoke to CNN during the kids' inaugural concert broadcast on Disney.
"I hate to see families of fans struggling in these tough times," Lovato told CNN as she prepared for the dress rehearsal for Monday night's Kid's Inauguration Concert.
"People of all ages are paying attention. As teenagers get older, they are taking an interest in what is happening in their future."
The “Kids’ Inaugural: We Are The Future“ concert honoring military families airing on Disney Channel (8:00 - 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, Monday, January 19).
The Kids' Inaugural will take place on the day before the official Presidential Inauguration of Brack Obama and Joe Biden.First-lady (soon to be) Michelle Obama visited the concert, along with Jill Biden, wife of Vice President-elect Joe Biden, and both addressed the cheering crowd.
Michelle Obama asked the young people to help their country's future now. "We all have something incredible to contribute to the life of this nation," she said, adding, "And kids, this means you, too, right?"
Lovato stars in the Disney television series "Sonny With a Chance" which debuts next month. She starred opposite Joe Jonas in Disney's "Camp Rock" movie last year.
The swearing-in ceremony at midday Tuesday will be sent out to a worldwide audience. It also will be streamed online through dozens of Web sites.
Coverage began Saturday with pre-inauguration specials on the cable news networks. The first inaugural concert airs 1/19/2009 on HBO.
Obama is expected to take the oath of office about noon and then deliver his inaugural address.
The ceremony also includes music by the United States Marine Band, the San Francisco Boys and Girls Choirs; welcoming remarks by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.; an invocation by the Rev. Rick Warren; a song by Aretha Franklin; the swearing-in of Joe Biden as vice president; a song by John Williams; a poem by Elizabeth Alexander; a benediction by the Rev. Joseph E. Lowery; and the National Anthem sung by The United States Navy Band "Sea Chanters."
Musical performances for the Kids’ Inaugural event include the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Bow Wow. Billy Ray Cyrus, Keke Palmer, and Usher Raymond IV are also scheduled to appear. Perry Rubin will be the special backstage correspondent. Additional performers and guests will be announced as they are confirmed.
