I wanted David A to win but I knew America would vote for the mock-rocker! How typical! Let's just hope when he does make his album we'll be able to make out the words!!! Sorry but I just don't get him! He sounds like every rocker out there! David A at least has such a unique voice and everytime he sings he sounds heartfelt and honest. I think he lost because he's is such a teenager - he sounded so flabbergasted most of the time, wish someone could've worked with him on that. My consolation is I KNOW that David A will sell more albums and be more sucessful!!!!
David Cook is not a 'mock rocker'--he has a very good voice, unlike David A who is generic and bland and makes every song sound the same. You could hear it when they were singing together and how Cook swallowed up David A. It's about time the best singer finally won for a change.
I think either David could have been the winner. They both have outstanding voices, and I agree that David A. will go on to do very well. He is young and has plenty of time to mature - both mentally and physically. David Cook has a beautiful voice also when he sings a softer song. I totally agree about Jordan's awful, awful dress and the stupid words to the song Carrie sang. She is a wonderful singer, but I also think they are making her into too much of a floozy. She used to have a beautiful, very natural look. Anyway, I'm happy for David Cook, and it will be interesting to see what evolves with both of them.
in the validity of Idol.
And to think, David Cook only went along while his brother auditioned, then he was talked into trying out too.........and the rest is history!!
And he is sounding better all the time - much luck to him!

I think American got it right. It's been pointed out that in some other blogs that off the AI winners only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have actually made it big time. But I think David Cook is ready and will do great. I came into the season late and frankly have never been much of an AI fan, but it's mostly David C's performances that made me a fan of the whole show.
As for David A., he's young and has a great career ahead. Frankly, losing may be the best thing that's happened to him in this. It gives him a chance to polish and refine and find his own path. I don't think right now he'd have gotten much past returning to Idol in future years and singing 'Imagine' if he'd actually won. I think the tour and the chance to mature will make him a very popular pop singer in the years to come. Remember, too much success too soon for kids has almost always lead to personal disaster. He seems like too nice a kid to wish that on.
I was kind of put off with the judges last night. At that point in the competition nothing was to be gained by their 'critiques' except possibly manipulating the vote. It really seemed that they were trying to stump for 'Archie'. But one of the most satisfying moments in the whole season came after Simon after lambasting David C's last song and saying he should have done Billie Jean or Hello got literally 'bitch slapped' by David C when he said he felt it was a progression and why do something he'd already done. What a classy way to put Simon in his place. And the look on Simons face showed it.
The truth here is there were no losers tonight. David A did himself proud. David C did also. They are both headed for great careers. And Simon, well he can go visit his parents, Rosemary and Satan. (Way to go Kimmel!!!)
