Hilton/Lavandeira is a rocketing star with baggage, some hate him, and some even more. Then there are the millions of fans who hang on his every doodle or scrawled commentary that neatly encapsulates the issue de jour for the offending celebrity.
Fidel Castro and his brother Raul assure concerned Miamians the Dictator is just having some restorative plastic surgery, and is completely fine, despite what Perez sez.
Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas immortalized him in a song. Paris Hilton has no issues with Mario's alter ego piggybacking on her name, and counts him as a friend.
Now firmly entrenched in the MTV family, his empire expands with two shows on the sister networks. His guest appearance on “Celebrity Rap Superstar” bowing August 30th and “What Perez Sez” on September 11th.
Hilton will be one of several contestants taking place in MTV's new Hip-Hop themed show, "Celebrity Rap Superstar."
So what does Hilton know from rap?
Plenty. “You will find a ton of the good female rappers on my iPod,” said Perez, “Remy Ma, Lil’ Kim, Salt N Pepa, Lady Sovereign, Peaches, Trina, and some of the good guys too, like Kanye.”
Since part of the MTV show will have Perez schooled about constructing lyrics to beat, I asked him who would be the easiest celebrity to bust out some snappy wordplay on the fly.”Oh, easily Britney, I mean really, what can you say?” sighed Perez.
Hilton will take part in the new, live competition weekly series that features the celebrities being coached by some of Hip-Hop's biggest stars, as they are schooled on busting out the rhymes.
Celebrity mentors include West coast legends Warren G. and Tone Loc, Houston's Paul Wall and others notable rappers.
The contestants, who will come from the TV, film, music and sports world, will perform covers of some of the top rap songs, compete in freestyle battles and create their own original rap songs.
Each week the viewing audience will vote for their favorite contestant. The person with the least amount of votes will be eliminated until the best rapper is selected.
A veritable full cup of Cafe con leche spilleth over for Hilton, who previously announced on July 13, 2007 on “The View” that he will star in his own reality television show on VH1.
This was after valiant attempts to sway "View" executive producers Bill Geddie and Barbara Walters to go young, Latino and Gay, instead of old, Straight and Black.
Being the celebrity savant he is, I asked who was our generation’s Cary Grant, who was the class act, the one who rises above it all? Perez did not hesitate. “Oh, Oprah, without a doubt. She’s not perfect, she’s normal, human.”
And Miami fans take note, Mario is a homeboy to the core and sez he will be there this weekend. He mentioned he may take his celebrity VH1 show on the road for juicy caliente scoopage with a side of Mojos y Queso Manchego. Delicioso!
