By Stone Martindale May 9, 2007, 4:05 GMT
The Bee Gees' Barry Gibb will be the mentor for the performers tonight, who will be singing two songs each for the competition.
Barry Gibb and Disco night, what a combo. We are down to the wire now, and four remain to battle it out for the grand prize.
Barry and the four singers sing "How Deep is Your Love?"
Last week, Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson were voted off. American Idol is now left with Blake, Melinda, Jordin and LaKisha.
Let's discuss:
Melinda Doolittle: Age: 29 years-old. Sings: "A Taste of Honey" Randy agrees that it was unspectacular. Simon wanted "incredible" from Melinda and he didn't get it. Simon and Paula argue. They aren't kvelling. I still love her.
2nd song: "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?" Best performance of the night. Randy totally loves it. Simon thinks it just put Melinda into the semi-finals.
Blake Lewis: Age: 25 years-old. Sings "You Should Be Dancing." The beat box jazz comes back. Randy didn't think the beat boxing worked. Paula loved the beat boxing, but not the chorus of the song. Simon thought it was "terrible."
2nd song: "This is Where I Came In". Randy thought is was all right. Paula liked it and Simon is "baffled" why he chose that song.
LaKisha Jones: Age: 27 years-old. Sings "Stayin' Alive." Randy didn't think it was "working." Simon thought it was "verging on scary" and Paula was a tad comatose.
2nd song: "Run to Me" Randy thought it was better than the first and Simon thought it was better - but not great.
Jordin Sparks: Age: 17 years-old. Sings "To Love Somebody".Randy thinks it's best of the night. Paula nods, Simon likes it.
2nd song: "Woman in Love," Randy and Paula thought it was pitchy and Simon thought it was old-fashioned. She's a doll and will have a career doing something-maybe acting too.
Well - did you watch too? Who is bottom of the heap and going home?
