NASA’s Unexplained Files examines the case of a man who managed to get into Mission Control

Tonight on NASA’s Unexplained Files – someone manages to get into Mission Control Center in Alabama and scientists find evidence of an invisible planet.

In 1997 Jerry Alan Whittredge managed to get into one of NASA’s Mission Control Centers, despite them being one of the most secure parts of any NASA operation.

Being in the Mission Control area gives an intruder access to both NASA and military data. Usually the strict monitoring of everyone who is in the building during a mission prevents any such breaches.

Former CIA Covert Operations Office Mike Baker tells the show: “When you got an individual like this who has gained access to secure areas your first thought is there something going on from an espionage perspective.”

The actions Whittredge took seemed to confirm these fears when he used a console to communicate with astronauts in space!

On the very same day astronauts on a space shuttle mission lost control of a 3000 lb scientific satellite called Spartan.

Whittredge was also involved in a number of other impersonations from pretending to be British royalty through to being a CIA assassin.

Tonight’s show also examines a mysterious invisible planet found in another star system and what caused a deep space probe to malfunction.

Find out what happened to the shuttle mission and the infiltrator in this episode of NASA’s Unexplained Files.

Watch NASA’s Unexplained Files – Mystery of the Invisible Planet tonight at 9/8c PM on Science Channel.
