Two female charter guests almost died during the filming of Below Deck after they capsized while tubing over a reef and got pounded by powerful waves.
The scenes unfold on tonight’s episode of the Bravo show, while superyacht the Valor is moored in an idyllic bay.
The two female guests decide then want to go tubing, which involves being pulled along on top of the yellow ‘tube’ behind a speedboat.
But when the wind catches underneath the tube it causes them to flip over right on top of the reef.
Initially things seem ok but when the reef causes a wave to break, it crashes on top of the girls and they struggle to stay on the surface.
The strength of the waves also makes it almost impossible for them to swim and they risk drowning or getting smashed against the rocks and sharp coral underneath the surface.
Watch the drama unfold in the clip below as deckhand Nico Scholly takes a break from trying to get jiggy with his female co-workers and puts his own life on the line to dive in and rescue them.
Reefs are particularly dangerous spots because when the swell approaches it has less space to move, causing it to create a wave which then crashes down on top of the reef creating a powerful current.
But the dramatic rescue isn’t the only catastrophe on this week’s Below Deck, as new deckhand and former British soldier Kyle Dixon (the one nobody understands), dislocates his shoulder and it has to be popped back in by Lauren Burchell.
Also on this week’s episode of Below Deck, Kelley Johnson gets a going over by Captain Lee Rosbach after a string of blips.
Capt. Lee says: “If Kelley doesn’t start performing the way I think he should I’ll probably have to end up baby-sitting him all the way through the season.”
And when Kelley says that he feels he’s always getting pulled up rather than Kate Chastain, Capt. Lee is not pleased.
He says: “Do you really want to go to war on this?”
But Kelley still thinks there’s a double standard. He says: “He’s terrified of Kate. And that makes my job more difficult because then he just comes after me.”
